Cut, bent and shaped 8 false ribs for the top rear skin

 

Cut, bent and shaped 6 false ribs for the bottom rear skin

 

Marked, drilled and clecoed the rear channel to the top rear skin of the left wing

 

Drilled and clecoed the fuel tank rear channel to the top rear skin.

 

Marked the inboard end of the left wing top rear skin for the cutout area

 

Drilled all holes in ribs, rear channel and fuel tank rear channel up to size.

 

Countersunk the six rivet holes at the main spar to top rear skin and installed flush rivets

 

Marked, drilled, aligned and clecoed the 4 false ribs to the top rear skin of the left wing

Turned left wing over and leveled the wing with a 1”X6” 12’ board holding up the trailing edge

 

Positioned and aligned the lower rear skin

 

Drilled and clecoed the skin to the main spar and rear ribs

 

Drilled and clecoed 3 false ribs to the lower rear skin

 

Used a 1”X6” 10’ long MDF board painted white to help hold the skin flat

 

Made cutout in the inboard lower trailing edge

 

Marked, drilled and filed the 2 slots for the flaperon brackets in the inboard trailing edge

Aligned nose ribs, drilled and clecoed them to the nose skin

 

Used piano hinge wire thru the slat attachment bracket hos to help hold down the nose skin and a 1”X6” MDF board to hold the nose skin flat against the nose ribs

 

Marked, drilled, nibbled and filed the slot for the forward lift strut attachment fitting

 

Laid out rivet pattern for the angle support at the lift strut fitting

Laid out rivet pattern for jury strut fittings at rib #2

 

Drilled and clecoed on half of the jury strut fittings at rib #2

 

Fabricated the flaperon bracket alignment tool

 

Cut, filed, drilled and clecoed the 4 flaperon attachment arms to the bottom of the left wing

 

Drilled all remaining holes to #40 on the bottom of the left wing and clecoed with silver clecos

 

Drilled all the holes on the bottom of the left wing to #30 and clecoed with copper clecos

 

Drilled 8 holes in the lift strut fitting and support angle to #20 and installed black clecos

Shaped, trimmed and filed the L angles at 4 flaperon attachment arms

 

Disassembled bottom of wing, deburred all holes and started applying Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to all mating surfaces

Assembled bottom of wing with clecos

 

Pulled rivets in bottom of wing except along leading edge and forward lift strut angle

 

Turned wing right side up and leveled wing

Filed, and smoothed the 4 flaperon attachment arms for the bottom of the right wing

 

Filed and smoothed the 8 L angles for the flaperon brackets for the right wing

 

Filed and smoothed the forward lift strut attachment for the right wing

 

Cut, filed and smoothed the 12 fuel tank channel for both wings

 

Removed top skin from left wing

 

Removed top skin cutout inboard of rib #1 and filed the edges smooth

 

Drilled  and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to all mating surfaces and installed the 6 fuel tank channels on ribs #1 and #2 and on main spar of the left wing

 

Reinstalled top skin on left wing

 

Worked nose skin into position and drilled with #40 and clecoed skin to nose ribs

 

Cleaned nose skin for marking of main spar rivet line

Aligned and drilled access panel to accept pitot-static tube

 

Marked and cut out area between nose ribs #3 and #4 to install pitot-static tube

 

Aligned and drilled reinforcement panel and nose skin

 

Installed #6 screw nutplates on reinforcement panel

 

Fit all parts together then removed the pitot tube to continue work on the wing

Attached cork to fuel tank and wing skeleton channels

 

Drilled fuel tank outlet hole in rib #1

 

Drilled fuel tank drain hole in lover wing skin

 

Installed nutplates for strobe power supplies on left and right wing spar tips.

 

Clecoed L angles  on end of left and right spar tips

Attached fuel tank ground wire and wing ground wire to #1 rib

Deburred all holes on inside of top wing skin

Squeezed all the rivets on the trailing edge

 

Marked and cut the wing tip curved top skin and bottom skin

 

Fluted the wing tip top and bottom angles and clecoed in place

 

Began the alignment of the fiberglass wing tip panel

Fit and trimmed the wing tip skin and clecoed in place

 

Drilled mounting holes in both fiberglass wingtip panels for the Nav/Strobe lights

Built an access panel and reinforcing plate for the panel to go on the wingtip skin

 

Painted the fiberglass wingtip with gray primer, inside and outside

 

Installed the Nav/Strobe light head on the fiberglass wingtip

 

Clecoed fiberglass wingtip in position on the wing

 

Ran the electrical wires to the strobe power supply and the nav light

 

Tested the strobe and nav lights for operation, both work fine

 

Secured all wires in the wingtip bay
