Smoothed edges on all eight slat brackets

 

Made eight L angles to fit the slat ribs

 

Drilled and fit slat bracket and L angle to the slat ribs

 

Drilled all holes to #30

 

Disassembled, deburred  and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to all mating surfaces of the slat ribs

 

Assembled all eight ribs and riveted with A4 rivets

Disassembled, deburred  and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the slat skin and L angles

 

Assembled and riveted L angles in all four slat panels

Fit, drilled to proper size and clecoed slat ribs to right wing inboard and outboard slat skin bottoms

 

Deburred skat ribs and skins and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the slat ribs and skins

 

Assembled and riveted slat ribs to slat bottom skins

 

Using jigs, rolled upper slat skins over inboard and outboard slat ribs, drilled and clecoed slat skin to ribs

 

Drilled and clecoed Z angle to upper skin

 

Laid out rivet pattern on slats lower trailing edge material and predrilled the holes to #40

 

Aligned slats lower trailing edge material on both inboard and outboard right wing slats and drilled to #40

 

Drilled all holes in slat skins up to proper size and clecoed together

 

Fit, drilled and clecoed the inboard and outboard fiberglass slat tips in place

Diassembled and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the slat ribs, lower trailing edge material and skins

 

Assembled slat panels and installed fiberglass tips

 

Pulled all rivets on the inboard and outboard right wing slats

 

Squeezed slat trailing edge solid rivets. Right wing slat panels done.

 

Started assembly of left wing slats by fitting the ribs to the inboard and outboard skins and drilling to #30

 

Removed the ribe and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the slat ribs and slat skins

 

Installed ribs and pulled the rivets on the bottom slat skins to hold the ribs

Made two slat alignment tools and slat trailing edge distance blocks

Using slat alignment tools, positioned and drilled the right wing slat brackets to the wing slat attachment brackets

 

Drilled all slat attachment holes up to 3/16”

 

Laid out rivet pattern and drilled both slat overlap joints to #30 on top of slat skins

Laid out rivet pattern and drilled both slat overlap joints to #30 on the bottom of slat skins

 

Removed slats, deburred holes, assembled slats and installed rivets on the overlap joint of both the left and right slats

Bolted flaperon attachment arms to bottom of both wings

 

Laid out, cut and drilled four left hand flaperon attachment brackets to size

 

Laid out, cut and drilled four rear splice plates to initial size

Marked, drilled and assembled both outboard flaperons to bottom of skins

 

Diassembled, deburred and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the outboard flaperon spars, rear ribs and nose ribs and skins

 

Assembled and riveted bottom of both outboard flaperons

 

Drilled top side of right outboard flaperon to proper size and secured with clecos

 

Diassembled, deburred and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the outboard flaperon spars, rear ribs, nose ribs, skins and trailing edges

 

Painted right fiberglass flaperon tip with gray primer

 

Assembled both outboard flaperons and riveted the right outboard flaperon

Installed and riveted the right outboard flaperon splice plate

 

Drilled the right outboard flaperon attachment brackets to 5/32” and installed on the wing with clecos

 

Drilled top side of left outboard flaperon to proper size and secured with clecos

 

Diassembled, deburred and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the left outboard flaperon spars, rear ribs, nose ribs, skins and trailing edges

 

Painted left fiberglass flaperon tip with gray primer

 

Riveted the top of the left outboard flaperon

 

Installed and riveted the left outboard flaperon splice plate

 

Drilled the left outboard flaperon attachment brackets to 5/32” and installed on the wing with clecos

Marked, drilled and assembled both inboard flaperons to bottom of skins

Diassembled, deburred and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the inboard flaperon spars, rear ribs and nose ribs and skins

Assembled and riveted bottom of both inboard flaperons

Marked, drilled and assembled both inboard flaperons to top half  of skins

 

Diassembled, deburred and applied Cortec VCI-373 Wash Primer/Corrosion Inhibitor to mating surfaces of the inboard flaperon spars, rear ribs and nose ribs and skins

 

Assembled and riveted top of both inboard flaperons

 

Made new flaperon control horns 10mm higher than kit parts

 

Laid out, drilled and assembled control horns to flaperon root ribs and clecoed in place after using a laser to align the flaperon attachment brackets with the pivot hole in the control horn

 

Drilled all the inboard flaperon attachment brackets to 5/32” and installed on the wing with clecos

 

Set 16mm washout in both flaperon assemblies, installed and riveted the left and right inboard flaperon splice plates to the flaperon splice end ribs

 

Flaperons complete with the exception of the flaperon nose splice
