Check List for your CH701

 

N701SZ Checklists

 

Pre-flight

q Key is Off

q Turn Master ON

q Verify Fuel level

q Verify Voltage level

q Check position lights, strobe lights, landing and taxi lights

q Turn Master OFF

q Note Hobbs time in flight log

q Check interior for neatness

q Check fuel line connection points

q Fuel Selector on proper fuel tanks

q Underneath airplane for oil or fuel leaks

q Left wing condition, and flaperon/slat security

q Left main tire, brakes, gear

q Left fuselage for condition

q Stabilizer condition and security

q Elevator condition, hinges, trim tab, and turnbuckle security

q Rudder condition, hinges, position light, and turnbuckle security

q Right fuselage for condition

q Right main tire, brakes, and gear

q Right wing condition, and flaperon/slat security

q Nose wheel condition

q Propeller condition

q Remove cowling top

q Remove Oil filler cap

q Rotate propeller counter clockwise as facing airplane from front, continue rotating until gurgling sound is heard from oil reservoir

q Remove oil dipstick from reservoir to check oil level, add if necessary and note in log

q Ensure coolant expansion reservoir is approximately half full

q Engine and components for general condition and loose hardware

q Replace cowling

q Add or remove duct tape from oil/water cooler depending on expected temperatures

q Check Fuel at drain points for debris and water

 

Startup

q Baggage is stowed

q Seat belts are fastened

q Check fuel selector is in proper position for fuel tanks

q MASTER ON

q ALT ON

q START POWER ON

q CLEAR PROP (check propwash area)

q CHOKE (if cold)

q Turn Key fully clockwise until propeller is turning

q Engine starts, release tension on key

q Check engine gauges (oil pressure, voltage, indicators)

q If choke is used, slowly remove choke

q Warm engine @ 2500 RPM

q Program GPS while engine warms

q Taxi when oil temperature gauge shows some temperature Taxi

q Check brakes

q Make sure taxi area is clear

q Call for taxi clearance or announce intentions

q Taxi to run-up area Run-up

q Set engine to 4000 RPM

q Verify engine gauges

q Check left and right magnetos (no more than 150 RPM drop with 50 RPM D

q Check idle+

q Set Altimeter

q Ensure oil temp >120

q Check fuel selector is set on proper tanks Take off

q Position lights

q Strobe lights

q Transponder ALT 1200

q Clearance from tower or Call intentions

q Check for traffic and take active runway (if clear)

 

Climb out

q Set climb 55 MPH Vy (no obstacles)

q Set climb 45 MPH Vx (clear obstacles)

q Scan instruments regularly for

o Airspeed

o Oil pressure

o Oil temp

o Water temp

Cruise

q Every 15 minutes

o Oil pressure

o Oil temp

o Water temp

o Voltage

o Fuel level

o Indicator lights

o Fuel selector Pre-landing

q Check fuel selector is on tanks with most fuel

q Set pattern speed to 80mph

q Taxi/Landing lights (if necessary) Clear runway

q Strobes off

q Nav lights off

q Transponder off

q Contact Ground control or notify clear of runway Engine shut down

q Taxi/Landing lights off

q Avionics switch off

q Pull throttle all the way idle

q Turn key slowly mag 1 off, mag 2 off, key off

q Turn off start power, Alt, Master
